Waves of Seeing exhibition

It’s full steam ahead getting ready for the second Waves of Seeing exhibition at Oddfellows Hall in Sheringham, Norfolk, where I’ll be exhibiting this year with five other Norfolk artists. The venue is a lovely location at the end of the High Street, close to the sea front. It was once the old lifeboat house, now converted into a modern airy space on two floors. The race is on to get everything framed in time, organize the posters, and make a list of all the bits and pieces like bubble wrap and tape that you tend to overlook. I’m showing several digital paintings, some based on an image or a photo and reworked in a more abstract form. Digital painting is an interesting contrast to painting in other media, and it often creates completely unexpected results. I use a Wacom Cintiq drawing tablet and pen to paint the image, which is then printed onto canvas. There will be some history paintings too – a colourful portrait of the Admiral Lord Nelson, a Norfolk hero, as well as of Dame Edith Cavell, the nurse from Norwich who nursed injured soldiers in World War II and secretly helped over two hundred Allied soldiers escape from German-occupied Belgium before being shot by a German firing squad. And there’s a historical journey around Sheringham itself, painted on top of an old palette.

Come and see! I’d love to meet you at the exhibition – 30 September to 8 October 2023.
