These selected paintings continue my Painting History theme, and show people, places and events that form part of the history of Spain and of my birthplace, Norfolk, in England. I have used oil and mixed media to introduce text and texture that gives a reality to the past, whether in an old nineteenth-century photo of bullfighting or in the use of an old letter from Nelson to his mistress Lady Hamilton.
